Obama’s win is a matter of joy for underprivileged around the world: Foreign Minister Yadav

Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav has said that election of an African American person as the president of the United States has given a strong message of change across the world.

“The government of Nepal wishes to congratulate Barack Obama,” he said, adding that his election also marked much more to underprivileged people around the world.

“For all the underprivileged people and the people suffering from various discriminations across the world, this is a matter of joy,” he said.

The foreign minister, however, said that he does not expect any change in America’s foreign policy vis-à-vis Nepal with the change in administration there.

Meanwhile, president Dr. Rambaran Yadav and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ also congratulated the election of Obama. nepalnews.com sd Nov 06 08

Welcome!

This blog is run by the people who bring you Sunrise Pashmina (www.sunrise-pashmina.com). Our primary project is the promotion of independent backpacker tourism as a vehicle for benign development; our original purpose in getting involved with Tsering Choekyap back in 1999 was to small craftspeople and entrepreneurs in the Freak Street area of Kathmandu, the traditional gateway to mountain treks.

We hope this blog will become a sort of bulletin board for people to share news, projects, and personal perspectives on Nepal.

By the way, if you're thinking of going to Nepal and want advice, don't hesitate to contact me.
